Some days –
My heart feels like the Hearth
Where Pain and Agony dwell –
Fuelling an emotional fire
That burns very well –
It’s like having my own piece of Hell

Notes to this poem…
If something in my life triggered the writing of this poem, I certainly don’t remember it. However, I’m betting there was nothing and that it was just concept driven, a play on the words heart and hearth. I just then extended the metaphor to fire, emotions and other words associated with heart and hearth, ending with the epitomy of both in Hell.
So was it just a word play poem? No. Of course, not. There were and still are days when I feel this way. I just don’t think the days around which I wrote this poem were among them.
The O-series of poems are one stanza poems composed before I got onto writing haiku and tanka, and short poetry while in action or traveling by select means like plane or ferry. These poems are 3-9 lines long with at least one rhyming couplet, and not of the short forms just mentioned. For the sake of elegance, I just called the collection One.
