Hopelessness

My heart has more capacity to love her
Than the Big Dipper has to hold the sea –
And like how the latter reaches for the sea –
I, too, constantly reach for her –
Both only to fail repeatedly

Many times have I wondered
If she were aware of the Big Dipper’s destiny?
Of its incapability to touch the horizon –
Physically and figuratively –
To fill itself with water from the sea?

On each occasion – I’ve also wondered
If she were any more aware of my efforts
To reach out to her – than the sea
Were aware of the efforts of the Big Dipper?
Or if she were even ever aware of me!
