Without the Senses

Without the sense of sight –
One cannot see the rainbows that rain brings –
Without the sense of hearing –
One cannot listen to the songs that birds sing

Without the sense of smell –
One cannot enjoy the flowers’ scents –
Without the sense of taste –
One cannot savour the sweetness of honey’s essence

Without the sense of touch –
One cannot feel the softness of down –
Without the sense of awareness –
One cannot feel the presence of God all around

But were I to lose a sense –
It would not be any of these things
That I would miss most

Rather – I would most miss your features
That overwhelm each of my senses

The sight of your gaze –
The sound of your whispers –
The scent of your body –
The taste of your kiss –
The feel of your touch –
And the awareness that you love me
