Ask me about the weather,
Ask me what I think’s taboo,
Ask me if I would wear leather,
Or who I pray to?
Ask me any question, any day,
Ask me cause you know I’ve always,
Got something to say!
Ask me what I think of friendship,
Ask me how I feel about love,
Ask me my two cents on money,
And on happiness.
Ask me any question, any day,
Ask me cause you know I’ve always,
Got something to say!
Ask me about jogging, clear cut logging,
Autobahns and black swans,
Michael Jordan, Bob Dylan,
Islam, Viet Nam,
H-bombs and my Mom.
Yeah ask me any question, any day,
Ask me cause you know I’ve always,
Got something to say!
Ask me what I think of people,
Who’s always got something to say,
But who never ask other people,
For what they’ve got to say.
Cause having an opinion, without discussion,
Thinking one is right, day and night,
Is a plan for, fights and war,
Hot heads, bloodshed,
Lost heads and tears shed.
If we discuss our problems, I know we,
Can mutually find the answers that would be,
Good for you and me!
So tell me where you stand on abortion,
Would you help me if I wished to die?
Would you allow human cloning?
Or take a killer’s life?
Tell me your opinions, so that we,
Can mutually find the answers that would be,
Good for you and me.
Let’s find ways to solve global warming,
Let’s find ways to get world peace,
Let’s find ways to end world hunger,
And inequality.
Let’s discuss things over, so that we,
Can mutually find the answers that would be,
Good for you and me…
And the world we lease…
And all humanity.

Notes to this poem…
This is the fourth major set of changes I have made to this set of song lyrics. It should be the final version, and I mean it this time. I have recorded a very rough demo to put online, unlike before, and I am ready to move on to other unfinished songs I have waiting their turn.
This song only took about 4.5 years to finish, though I’m hardly suggesting I worked on it most of that time. I just let a lot of it stew and bits and tweaks came here and there to me. It started out as a rowdy and fun song about being opinionated like I am (first two verses and bridge). Then something happened and it got really reflective, slowed down to some hippie sing along piece. My Myers-Briggs flower child came through and conquered my Fieldmarshall side, if you will and the end product is, well, it is what it is.
