In this latest round
Of the draft for love –

A criminal past –
Rather than someone with
Potential to last

Notes to this poem…

This is actually my 150th one stanza poem despite the sequence of recently published posts saying it should be 149. I found a bad lust poem a little while back and put it into sequence at the latest number I had, which was 149.

This poem was inspired by the same incident and woman as Haiku H038, about what I deemed to be her bad choice in love to be going after a certain man among many others she could be, myself not included so this was objectively written.  You can read the notes to that poem for the story. This poem just had a little more detail, and a nice little rhyme scheme with five syllables per line. It came out of various notes I had to write about the incident and my feelings for it, which got completed in another poem.

All of these poems were written at about 1:30 AM in the quiet of the morning of night, in bed. I could not sleep with all these thoughts wandering my mind and me not wanting them to be lost, rather than any actual feelings that were keeping me awake.

The O-series of poems are one stanza poems composed before I got onto writing haiku and tanka, and short poetry while in action or traveling by select means like plane or ferry. These poems are 3-9 lines long with at least one rhyming couplet, and not of the short forms just mentioned. For the sake of elegance, I just called the collection One.
