Big Lift Ferry Poem F009

I asked myself how I felt –
In search of inspiration
For ferry poems tonight –
Cold, calm, slightly unsettled –
Like the ev’nings’ conditions  –
I was in sync with the night

Notes to this poem…

This was the first ferry poem I started on my ferry ride home tonight, describing the situation as I started the process of composing a poem or two for my ferry poems collection. It was like a check in that enlightened me to being self-aware I was feeling like how the night was making me feel.

I felt a bit cold physically from being out in a cool night, a bit under dressed and with a bit of cold sweat from tennis.

I was feeling quite calm emotionally, like the water and the stillness of the windless night.

And I was literally a little unsettled standing at the bow of the ferry that gently bobbed on the waves in the harbour created by a few other boats that happened to have passed in front of us during my ride.

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
