Wake up, Mr. Sun –
You’re supposed to wake me up –
Not me wake you up

Notes to this poem…

I had a chance to take the ferry in the morning today, which is something I almost never do. I can’t remember the last time I took the ferry in the morning, in fact.

I was on the ferry at 9:15 AM, but cloud cover on the horizon meant it looked like it was just past sunrise from a minimal amount of sunlight lighting up some of the city skyline. It made me feel like I was up at dawn, waking up the sun instead of the other way around.

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
