Clouds like tilled dirt fields –
Like those on the ground –
Sunrise in Tatamagouche

Notes to this poem…
I had to attend a conference in a place called Tatamagouche (ta-ta-ma-goosh), about a few hours’ drive from Halifax where I lived. Because it started at normal work hours, I had to leave before dawn with a colleague. The sun rose while we were on our way and what I saw was a really beautiful, but strange, sight.
The clouds in the sky were really rough on the underside, lit deep orange, quite like the dirt fields on the ground in, both, colour and texture. So I wrote a haiku about it.
The H-series poems comprise of haiku composed while I was not engaged in some activity during which I frequently composed poetry. That is why these are called the Inactive Haiku collection.
