Lone bug on the stage –
Seen by all in the audience –
Except the speaker

Notes to this poem…
While at a conference, a speaker was on the stage talking. Somehow, a decent sized bug over an inch long made it on to the stage and started darting around in its feet. A bunch of people saw it, and some were going to do something to warn the speaker of it. Unfortunately, they were too late as the speaker soon just stepped right on it in walking around and talking. You knew lots of people saw it because of their reaction the moment she stepped on it. Then some confessed they had intended to stop her to get the bug off the stage but didn’t want to just interrupt, not knowing which way the thing was going to dart and the speaker was going to walk. It seemed still far away enough to be safe until one unpredictable dart and one unpredictable step.
The H-series poems comprise of haiku composed while I was not engaged in some activity during which I frequently composed poetry. That is why these are called the Inactive Haiku collection.
