Lots of lights blinking
On sea horizon tonight –
Says “just partying”

Notes to this poem…
Whatever was going on in the ocean just to the south of Halifax harbour, within 20 miles or the horizon, there were half a dozen blinking lights out there. They were seriously blinking, too, not just periodically. A few were fast, a few were slow, and in different colours.
They looked like some coding system, if you asked me. With the different pulses and colours, it seemed like a party was going on. However, it was still pitch black on the horizon because a half a dozen lights, even with a few lighthouses in the way, wasn’t going to light it up. That was where I got the idea it could have been code. But what could it have said?
Just partying, of course! 🙂
The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
