An extra ferry –
The traffic increase
During harbour rush hour –

Notes to this poem…
The ferry ride I took today was towards the end of rush hour, which was unlike others I had taken in a very long time. On the waters, though, there is no congestion like there was on the road and bridges connect Halifax and Dartmouth. There was just an extra ferry in the whole of the harbour in addition to the two running between Halifax and Alderney Landing in Dartmouth, and that ferry went in the opposite direction to Woodside.
There were more people at the terminal. However, most of them decided to stay downstairs tonight while I went on the upper deck with a handful of other people, so it didn’t even feel like rush hour for volumes of people with me on the ferry.
The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
