Notes to this poem…

I don’t know what’s been going on in Halifax of late but it seems every evening when I take in a skate on the Oval, sooner or later, fire trucks come whizzing around one street or another of the Commons that surround the Oval. Sometimes, there’d be police and/or ambulances with it. All have sirens a-blazing, of course. That’s how I know because I can hear them even with my earbuds on with music blasting in them!

Does that make me a curse or bad omen? Surely there must be someone else skating most nights I can blame this on? 🙂

The S-series poems were composed while I was out skating on the Halifax Emera Skating Oval, to squeeze in writing time in a life that is always getting busier.
