Skating Poem S021

What do you call a
Failed attempt at portmanteau?
Maybe port-non-teau?
Do you think that could count as
As a bilingual pun?

Notes to this poem…

portmanteau is the combination of two words and their meanings into one. From Oval Poem O20, where I failed to get a portmanteau for winter and spring, came the idea for this haiku. That was before the realization expressed by the last two lines to make this a tanka, which should have a natural break of thought after the first three lines that need to be 5-7-5 for syllabic requirement.

The S-series poems were composed while I was out skating on the Halifax Emera Skating Oval, to squeeze in writing time in a life that is always getting busier.
