When I was a kid –
I was such a big dreamer –
But then I grew up –
Got practical and became –
More of a dream fulfiller

Notes to this poem…
True story, as much as it sounds like trash talking. I’m a man of ideas, and once upon a time, all I had were ideas. However, just having ideas becomes more sad than fun after a while if you started to believe none of them would ever come to fruition. So I matured and learned to put in the grunt work, whether learning, risk taking, labour, acting in the moment, among other factors required to make dreams happen. The far less than appealing side of dreaming the pure dreamers don’t do.
Now, I still have lots of ideas. I just make them happen more often than not so I’m more a dream fulfiller than a dreamer. And I think that possible for anybody who considers themselves more a dreamer than a dream fulfiller.
The poems titled Tanka, followed by a number, are tanka composed while I was not engaged in some activity during which I frequently composed poetry. That is why these are called the Inactive Tanka collection.
