Looking at the line –
Where one’s too conservative
For us to be friends –
I’m in new territory –
If I’ll have to draw that line

Notes to this poem…
Recently I met someone who was very nice, and from whom I could learn a lot in certain areas. However, they chose to just ignore some facts in life like it was garbage, and calling it that. We’re not talking about religion and science here, nor popular movements of idiocy like anti-vaccination. And it’s not like they’re stupid not to be able to comprehend things as they couldn’t win a debate about if their lives depended on it. They just are completely nonsensical about it, which I’m not sure is better than stupidity from ignorance, to deliberately do it!
I don’t want to identify the issues in case this person, or someone who knows this person, somehow stumbles across this. It’s just a situation I’ve never had to deal with where someone were like this. That’s the “new territory” referenced. I have a line for a lot of things I don’t tolerate among people I consider friends. This is a new thing not like anything I have yet to have to deal with. The next tanka will finish the story.
The poems titled Tanka, followed by a number, are tanka composed while I was not engaged in some activity during which I frequently composed poetry. That is why these are called the Inactive Tanka collection.
