Fuzzy ring of light –
Around the moon in the night –
And Jupiter, too –
Then a shooting star came through –
My falling star wish came true!

Notes to this poem…
Saw a spectacular sight on the ferry ride home tonight. The iPhone picture below from my Instagram won’t do it justice but should give you an idea. It was a huge ring around the moon in the sky, with Jupiter nested within being in a rare near alignment with the moon.

Staring up in awe the entire 10 minute ferry ride, I was thinking if I saw a shooting star through it or in it, as in burning up to fade before reaching the ring, I know I would have a sight of a lifetime. And part way through the ferry ride, one did!
Aren’t you supposed to wish upon a shooting star to have it come true, rather than seeing one being the wish coming true? 🙂
The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
