Running Poem R010

It took just 10 miles
To find myself while outside
On my run today
Not 26.2 like
Past years when I was younger

Notes to this poem…

Out on my distance runs are where I get my best and greatest ideas. Sometimes, they are outlets of creativity. Other times, they are solutions to life’s problems, gigantic or miniscule, one or many. Today, it was all of those, and then some. I checked my values. I know what I’d fight for, and when cause it’s not a one size fits all solution. I see where I’m not yet what I want to be, what’s holding me back, and how to overcome that. All that and it only took 10 miles of running, not a marathon of 26.2 miles like when I was younger and completed 31 of 31 I started! 🙂

Today is going to be a good turning point in life, and I’m marking it with this poem. It might take years or over a decade for me to see this story to completion and point back to this moment. However, I got all the motivation I needed today to make some fun, big changes in my life immediately, changes which I had been too casual to make from not being very self-disciplined. That’s no longer the case with something that happened today. I’m going to go into one of those phases to show the world what a focused me can do. I just need to be calm and rational about it to make sure I succeed rather than rush it and make impulsive decisions that could cost me more than it earns me. 🙂

Wish me luck!

The R-series poems were composed while I was out running, in an effort to find time for writing in a life that is always getting busier.
