April 30th –
Is oft a life changing day
In my life – it seems –
One which always turns out well –
Even with bad beginnings

Notes to this poem…

It started in 1975, with the end of the Viet Nam War that was devastating for pretty much all in South Viet Nam, unlike what you think the end of the war might be in terms of a good thing. In 1980, my Parents, younger sister and I were getting processed in Malaysia for refugee camp. Each year in university was a big transition as I changed focus (to chemistry, to inorganic chemistry, and out of chemistry upon graduation since it wasn’t healthy for me). In 2012, it was a work transition. Now, it’ll be another one that I can’t wait to get started on!

There’s more than a trend there!

I don’t know how this one will turn out, or how long it might take to complete. However, given my past track record, I can only get excited about it cause even the absolute of worst case scenarios like the end of the Viet Nam War, it turned out gloriously with me having a life in Canada many of my extended family do not. I just need to make sure I put in the effort cause my life is good in that sense. Nothing comes easy, but effort pretty much guarantees success. That’s something most people could only wish for so I certainly appreciate it.

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
