Running Poem R013

Ran faster than planned
Today due to a threat
But only a threat of rain

Notes to this poem…

I love having a threat to motivate me and get the adrenaline going to run faster. Of course, that threat is often only something made into a threat rather than a real threat like a bear or someone chasing me to cause me harm, etc. One threat that is very real for me, though, is the threat of cold rain. I don’t like getting wet and cold, and can make it a threat by not dressing for it so that if that rain came down on me, there would be consequences.

I had that threat looming today with nasty looking clouds when I planned my run. It never materialized, though, as is typical of unpredictable Nova Scotian weather. However, it sure motivated me to run a fast 10 miles!

The R-series poems were composed while I was out running, in an effort to find time for writing in a life that is always getting busier.
