Big Lift Ferry Poem F064

Is that Sarah Vaughan –
Or Haligonian wind –
I’m listening to?
It was both – as it turned out –
Making a gorgeous duet

Notes to this poem…

A song that came on my iPod during my ferry ride tonight was Sarah Vaughan singing Stardust…

All those high notes she was whistling with her voice, it blended in ever so well with the strong gale whistling between my ear hole and ear buds. The effect inspired this tanka that pretty much says it all.

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
