Big Lift Ferry Poem F070

No road to the moon tonight –
As the moon was too
High up in the sky

Notes to this poem…

One of my favourite words is the Swedish word mångata, meaning moon road.

I prefer my more poetic translation of road to the moon, though.

The moon I saw from the ferry tonight was too high in the sky for it to have a reflection looking like a long road of light from it to me, the phenomena the word mångata describes. I was out on the water at the wrong time, basically.

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
