Notes to this poem…
On Monday night, I thought I had quite the spectacular poem composing ferry ride with six poems composed during one ferry ride (Big Lift Ferry poem F67)!
The moment I realized I had six composed on this ferry ride, I immediately scrambled and composed this one for the record, while documenting the feat! Really, I don’t think I can top this without being high on drugs or something, lol. The ferry ride just isn’t that long! I was just fortunate today to have had a lot of ideas floating in my head, which were all relatively complete in something close to 17 or 29 syllables that are haiku and tanka formats, respectively. Composing them into these poems was then relatively quick and easy. I would need a lot of stars to align if I were to complete eight or more poems in one ferry ride.
These big composition nights also skew things in that I have almost 10% of this collection to this point from one ferry ride! It’s not an accurate reflection of how often I take the ferry, but whatever.
The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
