This ferry ride is
Crowded like my refugee
Boat out of Viet Nam –
I haven’t felt this crowded
On a boat since that escape

Notes to this poem…
Big Lift Ferry Poem F75 documented how crowded the ferry ride was today and why. The only thing I could think of about the overcrowding on the boat was my refugee experience as one of the Vietnamese Boat People. While conditions were far worse on a rickety 10m fishing boat with 32 people on it, it was true I hadn’t felt this crowded on a boat since then!
Went home from volunteering with company so compared to yesterday’s ferry ride where I had seven poems composed, all of two poems got composed today on two rides. This was more like the norm prior to this week’s two previous rides where six and seven poems were composed on each ride, respectively.
The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
