Running Poem R018

Skipping my city’s
Marathon is like skipping
My birthday party –
However – I celebrate
In many other ways now

Notes to this poem…

As I write this, it’s the day before the big Bluenose marathon in Halifax, where I live. Having been a veteran of 31 marathons, but not having ran one in over 4 years and not having ran this one for about a decade, it still doesn’t feel right not to run it. However, it’s a choice I made and am perfectly happy with, given that past I can’t shake. I still run for “fun”, but I am doing many other things for “funner”, so to speak. 🙂

The R-series poems were composed while I was out running, in an effort to find time for writing in a life that is always getting busier.
