Big Lift Ferry Poem F079

Ghost town – party town –
Dartmouth versus Halifax –
Marathon morning

Notes to this poem…

As I left Halifax this morning to go volunteer in Dartmouth, it was chaos in Halifax as the marathon had begun not long before I left. I didn’t have to see most of it, living on the other side of the building on the street where the marathon started. I only had to cross one street where there was a sprinkling of people running past to get to my ferry.

In Dartmouth, it was another story downtown there. There was hardly anybody around on its main strip! Hardly any cars or buses, either, as I waited for my connecting bus.

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
