Big Lift Ferry Poem F080

Going to Dartmouth
To escape marathon day –
Avoiding hoopla
I was part of many times –
But now at peace away from

Notes to this poem…

The Bluenose marathon in Halifax ran today. I was fortunate to have a volunteering commitment in Dartmouth to take me away from the craziness surrounding where I lived in Halifax that was basically the start and finish of the marathon. It’s a lot of hoopla I don’t care for, not running the race, after having been a part of similar scenes bigger and smaller 31 times in my life.

I just looked at my journey to Dartmouth as an escape rather than a volunteering commitment. After all, I could have skipped out on that optional volunteering easily.

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
