The rain stayed away –
Enough to do stuff –
But not to return home dry

Notes to this poem…
The rain stayed away as I had prayed for in Big Lift Ferry Poem F81. There was a good seven hours of no rain or harmless sprinkling to allow the marathoners and us volunteers laying down the lines on clay tennis courts at St George’s Tennis Club to do our things. However, I could tell with the increasing rate of precipitation walking into the ferry terminal that I was not going to be able to get home dry. That was even if I stayed in the lower deck of the ferry with a roof over my head, as I had to walk some once off the ferry to get home. This was a prediction when written, not recollection, that turned out to be correct.
The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
