Tanka T060

I’m writing haiku –
To make concrete poetry –
From many haiku –
But not this one off topic –
That has now become tanka

Notes to this poem…

I’ve got some wicked ideas for concrete poetry from groups of haiku of common topics. However, I don’t have enough haiku for all of them yet so I am intentionally writing haiku for that purpose. This poem captures that experience, but since it wasn’t about one of those topics, I figured I add a few lines and turn it into a tanka. Messing with my own head, if you will. 🙂

The poems titled Tanka, followed by a number, are tanka composed while I was not engaged in some activity during which I frequently composed poetry. That is why these are called the Inactive Tanka collection.
