Once white as a ghost –
Now brown like dark toast –
After vacation – in Hell?

Notes to this poem…
I saw someone today I don’t know, but see often, after a few weeks’ absence. Normally, their skin tone is as pale as a ghost. However, today, they were dark like I couldn’t believe a white person could be dark from tanning. The few weeks’ absence makes me bet they were on vacation. But trying to think how much tanning they’d have had to do to become so dark, Hell was the only place I could think of where one could get burned so much! And thus the poem. 🙂
The H-series poems comprise of haiku composed while I was not engaged in some activity during which I frequently composed poetry. That is why these are called the Inactive Haiku collection.
