Photo-realistic art –
Will never have the
Worth of abstract art

Notes to this poem…
See Haiku 134 annotations for my views on the value of paintings and drawings, especially abstracted ones. I don’t generally mean so abstracted you can’t figure out what is what, just abstracted enough to give you a different look at the same thing you can imagine it to be.
It’s true. Photo-realistic art will get you some “wows” for your technical ability, but you’re still a third rate camera capturing the thing. People would far rather pay for first rate art than third rate photos.
Also, just think of all the expensive paintings and drawings out there. Now, try to think of all the expensive photos out there. Gauge their values, if you can, or take your best guess. Not even close in comparison!
The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
