Big Lift Ferry Poem F154

Standing at one end
Of the mangåta
Tempted to take the first step

Notes to this poem…

This was the view I had.

This is what mangåta means.

Put the two together, I need to clarify this is not a poem about suicide. Taking that first step would land me in the water in front of the ferry that would run me under and shred me to bits! lol

No, think symbolism. Being able to not only walk on water where that moon reflection shone, but also to walk your way to the moon. Tempted, only because knowing in reality, you’d step off the ferry only to be dragged under and shredded to bits. 🙂

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
