Big Lift Ferry Poem F157

My troubles today –
Are all now as far away –
From me as the moon –
Like I took the mangåta
To get away from them all

Notes to this poem…

This is what mangåta means.

This was the view I had pretty much the entire ferry ride. The background changed a bit but that was about it.

It was one of those bad Mondays as Big Lift Ferry Poem 149 indicated. However, the sight of that mangåta throughout the 15 minute ride (including boarding time waiting to leave the Dartmouth terminal) was so calm and serene I really felt what this poem described by the end of it all.

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
