Big Lift Ferry Poem F158

mangåta takes
You to the moon if taken
With the eye and mind –
But it takes you to Heaven –
If it’s taken with the feet

Notes to this poem…

This is what mangåta means.

This was the view I had pretty much the entire ferry ride. The background changed a bit but that was about it.

See annotation for Big Lift Ferry Poem 154 for the ridiculous difference between metaphorically or symbolically traveling the mangåta, and literally doing it.

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
