Big Lift Ferry Poem F168

How’s my place like the
The world’s best soccer player?
They’re both “Messi”

06.23.16

World English version (“football” = “soccer”)

How’s my room like the
The world’s best football player?
They’re both “Messi”

Notes to this poem…

This is a verbal pun that doesn’t work well in writing since the punned words are spelled differently (messy and Messi of Lionel Messi).

I wrote two versions for different audiences. One is my place, like entire place, for people who have more than a room like kids only have. The other is the North American English term of soccer meaning football in all the other parts of the world speaking English.

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
