High school reunion –
Award for most changed person –
Had to go to me –
I am most of what I was –
And almost all I was not

Notes to this poem…
Fictitious, but plausible poem. I have my 25th high school reunion tonight. Probably less than half the class would be there. There won’t be any such awards. I don’t even know how most have changed to say for sure I’d win. However, it’s fun to imagine.
I was pretty much a nerd in high school. Since then, my smarts have expanded to everything. I dare say I can be more social than most of the people there now, traversing in many very different types of people groups among all my activities. I am now artistic to no ends. I have a wicked sense of humour rather than none. I have been on varsity athletic teams and attained some top general public athletic achievements like qualifying for the Boston Marathon, when I wasn’t athletic in high school. My mind is more open than ever, and I stand up for it more than ever. Otherwise, I’m still the same nice and kind individual I was then, arguably even more as I volunteer more now.
And I can dance in multiple types of dancing! 😉
The poems titled Tanka, followed by a number, are tanka composed while I was not engaged in some activity during which I frequently composed poetry. That is why these are called the Inactive Tanka collection.
