One Stanza Poem O166

You wanted me to be –
A star in your night sky –
But I wanted to be –
Your whole, glorious sky –
For day as well as night –
And not just for the night

Notes to this poem…

A square poem is my own format creation where there are the same number of syllables in each line as there are lines in the poem. In this case, it is a 6 x 6 square poem. There are 6 syllables in each of the 6 lines.

Further development of the concept in Big Lift Ferry Poem F176, which was still on my mind. This might become song lyrics one day, but probably not soon as I’ve got so many other things to do!

The O-series of poems are one stanza poems composed before I got onto writing haiku and tanka, and short poetry while in action or traveling by select means like plane or ferry. These poems are 3-9 lines long with at least one rhyming couplet, and not of the short forms just mentioned. For the sake of elegance, I just called the collection One.
