Big Lift Ferry Poem F189

All the planes above –
Heading to Europe –
I wonder if they’re racing

Notes to this poem…

Looking up at the vast expanse of mostly clear sky from the ferry tonight, I counted ten jet vapour trails! All pretty recent and from degree of dissipation more at one end than the other, I could tell all were headed east-ish. That suggested Europe to me. Maybe one might be going to Newfoundland but Europe was far more romantic to consider.

With a long ways to go, while some planes had been ahead of others, they might very well be racing and it’d still be anybody’s race. Of course, in real life, they would not be racing. However, it was a fun thought for a haiku. 🙂

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
