Big Lift Ferry Poem F194

Stayed on the sea floor –
While my colleagues went above –
For current updates –
Which I didn’t need because
They won’t be in my future

Notes to this poem…

Pretty much the answer I gave today when asked why I didn’t go get some work updates that everyone else did. I told them because this group wasn’t a part of my future. Staying behind on my own felt ever so calm and peaceful, like I was on the sea floor where there was very little current compared to above where news and updates were just flowing through.

Did you like the pun on “current” for time and sea water movement to go with the metaphor of being on the sea floor? 🙂

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
