Welding light flashes –
Silent guns shooting
At the ferry from the bridge

Notes to this poem…
Welding on the bridge at night during this Big Lift redecking is a series of light flashes. About three weeks ago, I wrote of these flashes as Morse code signals in Big Lift Ferry Poem 133. Tonight, I saw them as silent gun fire, the way it’d look with your TV on mute, if there were guns on the MacDonald bridge shooting at the ferry. It’s a more accurate picture than the Morse code with the way the light pulsates.
I can’t believe I’ve written over 60 poems during ferry rides in the past week!
The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
