Big Lift Ferry Poem F198

Supervised learning –
Or unsupervised learning –
That is the question –
Those are the forms of learning –
About which I am learning

Notes to this poem…

It’s for my self-interest preparation for getting artificial intelligence (AI) robots. Supervised learning is the machine learning task of inferring a function from labeled training data. Unsupervised learning is the machine learning task of inferring a function to describe hidden structure from unlabeled data. You can read more through the link if you want but basically, the latter is more AI than the former which is completely programmable. You can’t program for all the scenarios for the latter so you have to program it to be able to learn on its own and figure things out on its own.

A question I had on the Coursera Machine Learning course was to distinguish which type of learning were various examples given. It was to that I referenced the question, not Hamlet to which people could attribute it just as well.

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
