Tanka T104

St. Matthew was much
More passionate than St. John –
According to me –
Listening to Bach’s Passions
Written for each of those saints

Notes to this poem…

Poem was written in jest, translating which I liked more to passion, as in the pieces’ namesakes, as if “passion” had anything to do with it. Passion here is properly spelled with capital P, referring to the Christian word for the short final period in the life of Jesus.

I preferred St. Matthew’s Passion (version of the Passion) as composed by Bach… especially that epic opening 8 minutes or so!

The T-series poems are tanka composed while I was not engaged in some activity during which I frequently composed poetry. That is why these are called the Inactive Tanka collection.
