Notes to this poem…

If I get up and am eager to find out about something that happened last night, it’s pretty much always been a late sports game or event, rather than world news. Occasionally, it was space news of something happening at an inconvenient time for me. However, with Turkey many hours ahead and the dawn of a new day about to come as I went to bed last night, I could not stay up all night to follow what was happening with the military coup there. Not the least because it wasn’t as convenient on social media rather than TV which I don’t have.

So when I got up this morning, I immediately jumped for my phone to read up on Turkey via news sites. This was before getting out of bed and going to play in a small local tennis tournament.

Great to hear the coup was quashed! Change may be needed, but not in this way.

The H-series poems comprise of haiku composed while I was not engaged in some activity during which I frequently composed poetry. That is why these are called the Inactive Haiku collection.
