Airborne Poem A003

Clouds in the window –
Are farther than they appear –
They’d have to be –
Passing at their lack of speed
For 500 miles an hour

Notes to this poem…

The clouds I saw from my window seat on this flight seemed rather close, especially when we were basically passing through some. However, they didn’t seem to pass by very quickly. I have scenery passing in a car on highway speeds of 60-70 miles an hour for reference in my memory. This didn’t seem much faster at all, if any, for the clouds that we weren’t passing through by seemed like we were closely passing by. Yet, they couldn’t be passing by that slowly given we were traveling at 500 miles per hour or so as the little on-board flight TV said. So I concluded what I did in this tanka.

The A-series poems comprise of poems composed while I was airborne, in flight.
