Cruise Poem C09

Flag of Alaska –
The celestial version –
On display tonight

Notes to this poem…

This is the flag of Alaska. It’s the Big Dipper constellation and the North Star, Polaris, in the direction of joining the two right most stars on the Big Dipper from bottom to top. I was looking at the real thing in the sky and thinking about this, being in Alaska and just having learned this fact a few days prior.

These cruise poems were written on my first ever cruise between September 2nd and 9th, from Seward, Alaska to Vancouver, British Columbia. Most were written at night on my limited down time from family, in the dark of the Helideck at the front of the ship, often alone beneath the night skies of Alaska.
