Tanka T117

There’s something about
Drawing nude human beings –
That makes them all seem –
More beautiful than they are –
Especially the real ones

Notes to this poem…

I find when I draw nude subjects, examining them in details to get what I need to draw, I see beauty in them I’d miss if I just saw them as an everyday person. That goes for the parts I could normally see like their faces, the parts I might not see because they’re covered by clothes like muscles in their upper arms or shoulders, and the parts I would never see like sexual parts normally covered up in clothing no matter what the public circumstance would be.

The T-series poems are tanka composed while I was not engaged in some activity during which I frequently composed poetry. That is why these are called the Inactive Tanka collection.
