Haiku H187

When you wear distinct clothing –
People remember
When you last wore it

Notes to this poem…

I’m speaking from lots of experience here, having designed a lot of clothes I’ve worn in the past handful of years. That clothing would be practical, yet distinct visually, without being inappropriate for the occasion. You can see some here on my regular blog. The impression made is part of the people’s memories of wherever had seen me in some garments, whether they had any interaction with me or not. All the truer if they had interacted with me, though. As a result, their memories of my garments and the event are sometimes inseparable, though I’m not suggesting they’ll remember it forever or anything. Just till the next time, which could be a year or two sometimes!

The H-series poems comprise of haiku composed while I was not engaged in some activity during which I frequently composed poetry. That is why these are called the Inactive Haiku collection.
