Big Lift Ferry Poem F314

Got short-changed on a
Bus transfer tonight by a
Newbie bus driver –
He misquoted rules but I
Had none on me to argue

Notes to this poem…

The driver gave me a transfer with only 45 minutes on it. It’s supposed to be 90, but practically, often given more so that people don’t dispute it, or useful for longer rides after which people would have to transfer. He said the rules was that it was 90 minutes from when he started his run, not from the time he gave it out. Then he added to read the rules, which really pissed me off cause I knew he was wrong, but I didn’t have access to any rules so I had to live with it.

Consequence of this was I didn’t do groceries until half a week later, when I went to play tennis again and used the transfer on the way home to also make a grocery run so as to be efficient with my bus usage. Merging trips to save bus tickets on unique trips, in other words. No big deal for me, but he was going to be a problem for everybody else with that attitude and error!

My karma and I collaborated on this one to get my revenge. My karma just isn’t nice when it comes to justice, and I’m usually not, either, lol. I caught a bus a few weeks after this and when I saw it was the same driver, I apologized and said I’d wait till the next one who would get me a longer transfer. Then a week after this, I had a 3 hour transfer from the bus on the way over, and used it on my way home from a tennis club meeting, rather than playing, that ended early. The bus I took had the same driver, but I only showed him the transfer and got on, not saying anything about it since I couldn’t prove it was from several hours prior. 🙂

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
