Mangåta tonight –
Leads to Halifax not moon –

Notes to this poem…
Mangåta is Swedish for the “road to the moon”, a beautiful word describing the long reflection of the moon in the water to the viewer when it is low in the sky. It was too high in the sky tonight for there to be even a close connection to the moon and the end of the mangåta. However, the mangåta was long enough it ran right to Halifax’s waterfront. 🙂
From this site, and my guess that the “man” in mangåta meant “moon”, so the rest of mangåta meant “road to”, I made a multi-lingual portmanteau pun (that’s quite the term!) to combine Halifax and mangåta for a word that may mean “road to Halifax” in Swedish. May is a very tentative term here! Just a concept sort of poem. 🙂
The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
