Haiku H190

Life sometimes feels like
A quest to keep entertained
On a long journey

Notes to this poem…

Remember as a kid how sometimes your family went on vacation to some place you didn’t know, and didn’t care for in the moment of a long car ride because you were bored? You were just eager for something to do to keep yourself occupied, even if rather meaningless beyond that. That’s what I was kind of thinking here. It happens for some of us as adults, too, though probably less because if we had to fork up money and effort for a ride, car, plane or otherwise, we probably were looking forward to it. Work trips can be like that, or even the transit to some place we want to get to, but can’t quickly enough and have to find ways to occupy ourselves during the ride.

The H-series poems comprise of haiku composed while I was not engaged in some activity during which I frequently composed poetry. That is why these are called the Inactive Haiku collection.
