Running Poem R050

My face ran into
Someone’s fist tonight –
But I think it hurt him more

Notes to this poem…

I’m playing on the comedic line of someone’s face run into your fist to deny taking responsibility for punching someone. However, I seriously did that on tonight’s run!

The person was standing and probably just went to wipe his nose as I flew by just in front of him. Most of the hand that was starting to clench as a fist, as some wipe their nose with a fist rather than open hand, hit my forehead more than my face. But because it wasn’t fully clench and he didn’t see me coming, his hand was probably not as ready as my face as I closed my eyes and leaned forward a bit, almost as if to duck, but I didn’t end up ducking.

After I ran through the fist, I actually turned around and yelled “sorry” and kept on going. How Canadian, eh? 🙂

The R-series poems were composed while I was out running, in an effort to find time for writing in a life that is always getting busier.
